5:30 PM (EST) - Start with a 90-minute virtual Jew­ish Stu­dio Project art workshop, led by Rabbi Adina Allen, exploring creative expression through the wisdom of Torah. All welcome-- you do not need to consider yourself an “artist” to attend this workshop! This will be an opportunity to experience the power of creativity, with basic art materials provided at the JCA.

7:30 PM (EST) - Stay for Rabbi Allen’s virtual author talk on The Place of All Possibility, a transformative guidebook blending spiritual teachings with art therapy and research on creativity.

On Shavuot we opened ourselves to receive new insights and images. What came to us and through us?

On Shavuot we open ourselves to new ideas, images and insights as we prepare to receive Torah anew. Tradition teaches that the giving of Torah was not a one-time occurrence, but rather is an ongoing act that happens anew in each generation.

The counting of the Omer is an auspicious time in the cycle of the Jewish year as we mark the days between Passover and Shavuot. What can we learn from this practice of counting? What knowledge is unearthed when we pay close attention to each moment?

On Passover we gather together with family and friends to tell the story of the journey to freedom. Every year the themes of oppression and liberation resonate in new ways and the unsuppressable energy for renewal surfaces like the growth emerging from dormancy at the cusp of a new season.

Explore the power of art making as a tool for personal and collective renewal! On this holiday we let go of everything we think we know and all we think we are, and, in celebration and joy, turn it upside down for the day.
